Lord of the Ring’s Billy Boyd Breaks The Bank
23 August 2010
The Lord of the Rings film trilogy did little to boost actor Billy Boyd's bank balance as he's now completely broke.
According to reports, the Scottish star played Hobbit Peregrin 'Pippin' Took in the hit films, which generated a massive $2.7 billion in profits, but Boyd admits he is still a struggling actor.
"I don't have any money. We were unknown actors. We did it for peanuts (very little money), and for food," he said.
The 41 year old has begun to accept that shooting the trilogy in New Zealand could be the peak of his career, adding: "Once you get in your head that you're not going to do anything bigger, you just do things that you enjoy."
