Lord of the Rings trilogy star Viggo Mortensen wants Aragorn return in The Hobbit trilogy
While he was absent from the spectacular return to Middle Earth that was The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Viggo Mortensen who played Aragorn in the Lord of the Rings trilogy has said he wants to return to the role in the extra material that will form a bridge between Peter Jackson's two trilogies.
Speaking to Total Film, the acclaimed actor said "Would I play Aragorn again? Sure, if it seemed sensible to do so.
He's not in the book of The Hobbit, but if they're working with the appendices they may be intending to bridge the 60-year Hobbit/The Lord of the Rings gap.
I think I would have heard by now so I have to assume... But Peter Jackson is famous for his reshoots, so you never know!"
Mortensen returns to cinemas alongside Kirsten Dunst in Hossein Amini's thriller The Two Faces of January which arrives in France and Belgium at the end of the year and is currently awaiting a UK release date.
The next entry in The Hobbit trilogy entitled The Desolation of Smaug opens in UK cinemas on December 13 featuring Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Elijah Wood, Cate Blanchett, Hugo Weaving, Lee Pace, Andy Serkis, Luke Evans, Evangeline Lilly, Christopher Lee, Ian Holm, Billy Connolly, Graham McTavish, James Nesbitt, Stephen Fry and Barry Humphries.
