Lupita Nyong’o and David Oyelowo set to team for Disney’s Queen of Katwe

She'll next be seen in the eagerly awaited Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens and according to reports Lupita Nyong'o is in talks to team with Selma star David Oyelowo in Disney's Queen of Katwe.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that the film is about a young Ugandan girl who whilst living in a slum becomes a chess prodigy and Oyelowo is in negotiations to star as coach Robert Katende and Nyong'o would play the girl's mother Harriet Mutesi.

Directed by Mira Nair, the film is based on the 2012 novel The Queen of Katwe: A Story of Life, Chess, and One Extraordinary Girl's Dream of Becoming a Grandmaster by Tim Crothers.

Oyelowo and Nyong'o are already both attached to Americanah, which is based on Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's award-winning novel about a pair of young Nigerian immigrants.

Nyong'o won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in 12 Years A Slave last year and Oyelowo has been praised for his role as Martin Luther King Jr in the Golden Globe nominated Selma which hits cinemas on February 6.
