Magic Mike’s Channing Tatum set to produce and star in big screen biopic of Evel Knievel
Channing Tatum's Magic Mike comes to UK cinemas on Friday and it is being reported that the Hollywood leading man is set to produce and star in a biopic of daredevil Evel Knievel.
The legendary daredevil was brought to life on TV by John Badham in 1994 with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation favourite George Eads in the role of Evel and word via The Hollywood Reporter is that Tatum has entered talks with Columbia Pictures for the project.
Evel Knievel was born Robert Craig Knievel and performed numerous motorcycle stunts in the late 1960's and early to mid 1970's, a lot of his stunts were televised on ABC's Wide World of Sports in the US.
He was also famous for his iconic stars and stripes-patterned motorcycle leathers, and is reported t have suffered over 400 broken bones during the span of his career and he passed away at the age of 69 in Florida on November 30 2007.
Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti who were recently confirmed to produce Fifty Shades of Grey are set to produce while Tatam, who will also be seen as Duke in G.I. Joe: Retaliation intends to produce with Reid Carolin under their Iron Horse Entertainment banner while Carolin will also pen the screenplay from Stuart Barker's 2008 book Life of Evel.
