Malin Akerman will be Debbie Harry in Randall Miller’s CBGB’s film
Gorgeous Watchmen bad ass Malin Akerman who returns to cinemas as Constance Stack in Adam Shankman's Rock of Ages has signed on to star as music legend Debbie Harry in the upcoming CBGB's film.
Variety reports that the film will focus on the legendary New York venue and founder Hilly Kristal, whose club became a huge fixture in the punk and rock scene, hosting such bands as The Ramones, The Sex Pistols and Blondie.
Word is that Harry Potter alumni Rupert Grint has also signed on to star as guitarist Cheetah Chrome of the punk band Dead Boys.
Akerman joins the already cast Joel David Moore and Julian Acosta who will play Joey and Johnny Ramone and Seinfeld actress Estelle Harris who takes the role of Hilly's mother Bertha with Randall Miller set to begin production next month in Savannah, Georgia with British acting legend Alan Rickman set to play the found of the legendary venue.
Akerman was last seen in the Jennifer Aniston starring comedy Wanderlust and has The Giant Mechanical Man from filmmaker Lee Kirk awaiting a release in the UK, and The Numbers Station, Cottage Country, Stolen and the made for TV movie The Smart One in post production.
She was attached to the lead role in Linda Lovelace biopic Inferno but apparently the film has been stalled due to the forthcoming release of the Amanda Seyfried starring Lovelace.
