Man of Steel’s Jor-El actor Russell Crowe addresses Krypton rumour

06 May 2013

Zack Snyder's Man of Steel hits cinemas in little over a month, and amidst the many rumours surrounding the Superman reboot, Russell Crowe who portrays Superman's doomed biological father Jor-El has quashed a rumour about the fate of Krypton.

Taking to Twitter, the Oscar winning actor wrote "Ahem... as I was saying... my name is Jor-El, of Krypton, as my planet dies I send to you my son, Kal. So he may live."

Rumours had emerged of a change to Clark Kent's iconic origin, in which he is a genetic anomaly sent to Earth from Krypton for safety, rather than because of the planet's imminent destruction, however with Crowe's comment, it appears that Superman's existence as the last living Kryptonian is intact.

Man of Steel opens in IMAX on June 14 and features Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Shannon, Christopher Meloni and Harry Lennix.
