Marc Webb embraced the spectacle of The Amazing Spider-Man 2

In a little over a month Marvel's webslinging wonder Spider-Man swings into cinemas with Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and Director Marc Webb has revealed that he embraced "the spectacle" of the eagerly awaited superhero sequel.
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Webb explained that he didn't want the comic book sequel "to be beholden to smallness" revealing "I want it to be fantastic, to be big, to command and express that feeling when you're a kid and reading the comics. I didn't want to hide or shy away from that."
Addressing concerns that his film is overloaded with villains, in a similar way to Sam Raimi's lacklustre Spider-Man 3 in 2007 he added "We're obviously familiar with the complaints people had, we're very careful to make sure the stories intertwine. For Peter Parker, it's very important that you create obstacles that are difficult to overcome."
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will feature Electro (Jamie Foxx) and introduces Green Goblin alter ego Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), Webb also revealed that Paul Giamatti's Rhino only features in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 "for four minutes".
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits cinemas on April 18 and features Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Sally Field, Martin Sheen, Colm Feore, Felicity Jones, Embeth Davidtz, Campbell Scott, Chris Cooper, Marton Csokas and Sarah Gadon.
