Maria Shriver files for divorce from Arnold Schwarzenegger

02 July 2011

She won't be back. It looks as though Maria Shriver who has been married to Hollywood action hero Arnold Schwarzenegger for 25 years has filed for divorce.

Shriver cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split and according to the petition filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday, Shriver is asking for spousal support and joint custody of their minor children, 17-year-old Patrick and 13-year-old Christopher. There is reported to be no prenuptial agreement so, if that's the case, the duo's assets will be split down the middle, per California law.

It's been scandalous for Schwarzenegger, not long after he stepped down as California governor Shriver moved out of their Brentwood home and into a Beverly Hills hotel. They announced their separation on May 9 and, the following week, the Governator turned Sperminator admitted to fathering a child out of wedlock with his former housekeeper Mildred Patricia "Patty" Baena and following the revelation, his oldest kids Katherine and Patrick, switched their surnames from Schwarzenegger to Shriver on Twitter the following day.
