Mark Hamill confirms Luke Skywalker return for Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: Episode VIII

Next month Cinemagoers return to a galaxy far, far away with the eagerly awaited Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens and whilst his iconic character has been absent from the marketing material, Mark Hamill has confirmed that he will return for Star Wars: Episode VIII!
Taking to Twitter, Hamill revealed that he has been growing a beard for the last month after wrapping his return as The Trickster on The CW’s ever popular series The Flash.
The update has prompted fans to speculate on Luke Skywalker’s role in the new film, with some fans now suggesting that he will survive The Force Awakens, while others favour the opinion that he will return as a ghost, such as that of Alec Guinness as Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi.
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens hits Cinemas on December 17 and stars Adam Driver, Amybeth Hargreaves, Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Harrison Ford, John Boyega, Kenny Baker, Lupita Nyong’o, Mark Hamill, Max von Sydow, Oscar Isaac, Peter Mayhew, Simon Pegg and Warwick Davis.
