04 January 2012

Oscar nominated Hollywood heavyweight Mark Ruffalo famed for Zodiac, The Kids Are All Right and Shutter Island has revealed details of the Joss Whedon superhero ensemble project.

The Date Night star tells The Wall Street Journal that it's story is an allegory for Americans "You have all these disparate egos, superheroes in this and that, and they refuse to give up some of their positions in order to make a more perfect union and to join the team, that's really what the whole movie is about - subjugating your own best interest momentarily to further that of the whole."

Ruffalo who was last seen in the long delayed Kenneth Lonergan written and directed Margaret plays the dual rolle of Dr. Bruce Banner and The Hulk alongside Chris Evans' Captain America, Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow and Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye in The Avengers which arrives in UK cinemas on April 27.

Marvel's The Avengers also features Samuel L Jackson as S.H.I.E.L.D agent Nick Fury and the big bad of the ensemble is Tom Hiddleston while it is rumoured to have a reappearance from Hugo Weaving's Red Skull.

Ruffalo also has Stuart Blumberg's Thanks for Sharing in post and is gearing up to appear in Louis Leterrier's Now You See Me with The Social Network's Jesse Eisenberg.
