Marvel head Kevin Feige reveals Captain America sequel plans

10 May 2012

With Marvel's Avengers Assemble currently kicking butt at the worldwide box office, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has spoken out about the forthcoming sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger.

Speaking to CHUD, Feige said that Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 will serve as standalone stories while the super soldier sequel starring Chris Evans will tie in closely with the Joss Whedon helmed blockbuster revealing "As we go forward - particularly in Iron Man 3 - there's the notion of how singular the stories can become. Iron Man 3 is a very singular Tony Stark story. As is Thor 2.
Cap, who is stuck in the modern day with no friends or family, there will be some revelations of who is still alive from his days in World War II, but S.H.I.E.L.D and Nick Fury are kind of his confidants right now. So of all these movies, Captain America 2 will be most closely associated with Avengers."

Avengers Assemble is currently playing in cinemas and earlier this week Disney announced that a sequel to Avengers Assemble is already in the works, lets hope they keep Joss Whedon at the helm.

The sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger is slated to arrive in cinemas in April 2014 and will see Chris Evans reprise his role.
