Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige promises a greatly expanded role for Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy
James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy is currently in production, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has revealed that Thanos will have a greatly expanded role following his brief cameo at the end of Avengers Assemble.
Feige also revealed that Lee Pace's Ronan the Accuser will serve as the main villain in the intergalactic superhero film telling Empire "We've already said that Thanos plays a part in it and is a character in it, that in and of itself should tell you it's connected to the other worlds.
Ronan The Accuser is very much the main bad guy. And Thanos is lurking above it all. You will learn more about Thanos in Guardians, for sure. Certainly you'll get more than the one turn around and smirk. You'll get much more than that!"
He went on to add that Zoe Saldana's Gamora who is the adopted daughter of Thanos in Marvel Comics lore will be a villain at the start of the film before joining the titular team.
Set for release on August 1 2014, Guardians of the Galaxy features Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Ophelia Lovibond, Michael Rooker, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Karen Gillan, Benicio Del Toro, Djimon Hounsou, Gregg Henry and Vin Diesel.
