McFlying Back Onto Shelves! Dougie Poynter Continues To Dominate 2020, Starring In THE HOST And Signing New Record Deal

03 July 2020

McFlying back onto shelves! Dougie Poynter continues to dominate 2020, starring in latest crime-thriller THE HOST, and signing first record deal in 10 years with beloved boyband McFly!

Congratulations are in order! This week McFly announced they are signing their first record deal in 10 years, with a first taste of new music dropping later this month. Though now reunited to bring us the soundtrack of the Summer, during their lengthy hiatus the four bandmembers had largely been exploring their own interests including publishing bestselling kids books, winning Strictly Come Dancing and writing and producing material for major artists like Rihanna and One Direction.

2020 has been good to McFly bassist Dougie Poynter. Alongside a resurgence in his musical career and continuance of important philanthropic and environmental efforts, Dougie starred in his first feature film - THE HOST. See Dougie speaking about his role in the film here!

Acting alongside an incredible cast consisting of Emmy winning actress Maryam HassouniMike Beckingham (up and coming brother of Simon Pegg), Nigel Barber (Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, Bond’s Spectre), Togo Igawa (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Star Wars: The Last Jedi) and industry legend Derek Jacobi (Gladiator), Dougie did more than just hold his own in this suspenseful Hitchcockian mystery.

Portraying Steven Atkinson, Dougie plays the loyal and rational brother to Robert (Beckingham), whose constant screw-ups have fragmented their relationship, but when Robert goes missing, Steven will fall deeper and deeper into a rabbit hole of crime, danger and revenge to save his family.

With THE HOST out now On Demand and McFly’s soon-to-be chart-topping album almost ready to drop, it’s a good time to join the Dougie Poynter fan club!

THE HOST is out now on iTunesAmazon PrimeGoogle PlaySky Store, Apple TV, Microsoft Movies and TV and Fandango Now.
