Meatballs still tasty at US box office

Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs is still serving up a treat at the US box office.

The 3D comedy remained at the top spot for the second week running after taking nearly $25 million.

While it was good news for Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, it was bad news for The Surrogates, which limped to second place after earning just $15 million. The Bruce Willis sci-fi actioner was expected to take at least $20 million.

Disney's president of domestic theatrical distribution, Chuck Viane, said, "We would love to have more but this is the reality of the weekend."

The remake of Fame also suffered a box office dissappointment after earning just $10 million to land third place.

Matt Damon espinoage caper The Informant and Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself rounded out the top five.
