Mechanic: Resurrection’s Jason Statham reportedly joins Warner Bros. Pictures’ Prehistoric Shark outing Meg

15 April 2016

He returns to Cinemas this August with Dennis Gansel’s Mechanic: Resurrection, and word is that Action hero Jason Statham has signed on to battle a prehistoric shark in Warner Bros. Action Horror Meg.

Deadline report that Meg is based on Steve Alten's novel Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror, and is about two men who team up to try to capture an ancient shark threatening the California coast.

In Meg, the shark will be terrorising the coast of China rather than California.

The Megalodon is an extinct shark species, considered one of the largest and most powerful predators in history and reaching 60 feet in size.

Whilst no other casting has been made, it is believed that Statam has been cast as a character called Jonas Taylor.

Statham is expected to reprise his role of Deckard Shaw in F. Gary Gray’s Fast & Furious 8 alongside Vin Diesel.
