Melancholia babe Kirsten Dunst won’t reunite with Lars von Trier for Nymphomaniac

01 October 2011

With Melancholia currently in cinemas, Kirsten Dunst who stars as Justine in the end of the world drama has spoken out about working on Lars von Trier's next film Nymphomaniac.

The Virgin Suicides actress told Digital Spy "No, I'm not working with him on his next film, but I would work with him again."

Back in May the great auteur joked that Dunst and her co-star Charlotte Gainsbourg would both appear in the film but it looks as though their other co-star, Stellan Skarsgård is in the running to play the lead in the film.

Dunst also jumped to the defence of her director after it was suggested he was a misogynist adding "That's really odd to me because he's one of the great auteurs of our time and he's one of the only ones writing scripts for women.

Yes, they might be his emotions, but he feels more comfortable and connected to a woman portraying him, so how is that misogynistic at all? I don't understand."

Dunst has just finished filming her role of Regan in Bachelorette and has On the Road, Charm and Upside Down in various stages of production.
