11 January 2015

With an all female reboot to the Ghostbusters franchise is coming, word is that Melissa McCarthy is in talks to star in the film from Paul Feig.

She and director Feig have already worked together on The Heat, Bridesmaids and the forthcoming June release of Spy and The Hollywood Reporter reports that McCarthy is in early talks to lead the upcoming reboot of the 1984 comedy.

McCarthy is currently working on her CBS comedy show Mike & Molly and is also due to film Michelle Darnell this year.

It is thought that she is shooting Michelle Darnell, with her husband Ben Falcone in March which would allow her to commit to Ghostbusters in June.

Whilst there is no official offers on the table at this stage, word is that there are discussions ongoing with several actors.

Other actresses who have been linked to Ghostbusters include Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, Kristen Wiig, Linda Cardellini, Mindy Kaling, Rebel Wilson, Workaholics star Jillian Bell and Saturday Night Live's Cecily Strong are also due to attend talks with Feig.
