Michael Bay close to closing deal on Transformers 4

07 December 2011

Even though he said he was stepping away from the high octane Transformers franchise, it would seem that Michael Bay is close to securing a deal to direct the fourth instalment of the robot rumble franchise.

NY Magazine report that the Bad Boys director is in final negotiations with Paramount to return to the franchise with an announcement to be made imminently.

It is also suggested that the selling point is that the studio will also release the long awaited crime film Pain and Gain in a two picture deal.

The NY source says “Without Pain, there’s no tit for tat. That’s Paramount’s leverage.”

And while some suggest that the next Transformers film would be a prequel, another source says it will head deep into Transformers canon to dig out some fan-pleasing new characters and said about the addition of Sentinel Prime in Dark of the Moon “Regular people might not care about bringing out a character like Sentinel Prime, but believe me, fans of the series cared.”
