Michael Winterbottom compliments his The Face of an Angel actress Cara Delevingne

27 March 2015

Michael Winterbottom has worked with some great actors and his latest film The Face of an Angel is to now in cinemas, the prolific filmmaker has spoken out about about working with model-turned-actress Cara Delevingne claiming that she's "not an actor in the traditional sense".

Speaking to The Guardian's G2 supplement, Winterbottom said "I didn't really know who she was, but as soon as I met her I knew she'd be perfect for [the role], the film is pretty much entirely scripted so she is acting, but it's a quality of hers which she's projecting.

I think she's like Julie Christie in that way: not an actor in the traditional sense but with a fantastic ability to project things on-screen.”

The Face of an Angel is a drama closely inspired by the events surrounding the murder of British student Meredith Kercher in 2007.

Delevingne stars as a British student who forges a friendship with Daniel Brühl’s filmmaker who travels to Italy to research a film adaptation, The Face of an Angel also stars Kate Beckinsale and is based on Barbie Latza Nadeau's book Angel Face: Sex, Murder and the Inside Story of Amanda Knox.

Delevingne will be DC’s Enchantress in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad returns to cinemas with John Green’s Paper Towns later this year.
