Misfits alumni Robert Sheehan reveals X-Men: First Class Banshee casting
He was last seen in the hard hitting gritty drama Love/Hate and Irish actor Robert Sheehan who returns to cinemas with The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones has claimed that he was originally cast in X-Men: First Class.
Talking to Hot Press, the Misfits star revealed that he landed the part of Banshee in Matthew Vaughn's comic book prequel "I was going to be Banshee, originally an Irish superhero, and Jane Goldman wrote it for me.
So yeah, that did sting a bit. There was a four or five-week crossover with Misfits, and the studio came back and said, 'No, we need full and free availability', and all of a sudden I was un-cast."
Caleb Landry Jones later landed the role of Banshee aka Sean Cassidy in the 2011 film and Bryan Singer is currentl filming the seuel entitled X-Men: Days of Future Past which will arrive in cinemas next July.
The aforementioned The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is based on the novel of the same name by Cassandra Clare opens in UK and US cinemas on August 21 and features Lily Collins, Lena Headey, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jamie Campbell Bower, Jared Harris, Kevin Zegers and Kevin Durand.
