Monster director Patty Jenkins leaves Marvel’s Thor sequel

07 December 2011

Patty Jenkins who is best known directing Charlize Theron to an Oscar in Monster and the pilot of AMC’s The Killing has parted ways with Marvel and the forthcoming sequel to Thor after less than two months on the job.

The departure is said to be down to creative differences, but it is widely thought that she'll be back to do another Marvel superhero film, just not a sequel to an established film franchise.

The sequel will see Chris Hemsworth return as the hammer wielding superhero, and Marvel have to move fast because it has to meet a November 15 2013 release date for the sequel which is being written by Thor co-writer Don Payne.

Hemsworth will next be seen reprising his role of Thor in the eagerly awaited superhero team up The Avengers from filmmaker Joss Whedon on April 27.
