Movie director sparks murder hunt

29 August 2009

A film director was rapped by police officers after he left a prop corpse in a forest while he and his crew took a lunch break.

A teenager found what he believed was a human corpse while he was walking his dog in a private forest near Stevenage, and police were immediately called.

Director Geoff Searle, 29, was stunned when he came back an hour later to discover his prop had gone.

Searle, who had been filming a scene for his short horror film Meat After School, said, "Three police cars and forensics had turned up and taken the 'body'.

A police spokesperson said, "Not only will the discovery have caused some distress to the member of public who came across it, but the subsequent police response involved the use of valuable resources."
