Movies Biggest Heroes to Hangout with Empire Magazine at EIFF

09 May 2014

Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) today announced an exciting new partnership with Empire Magazine ahead of the 68th edition of the Festival, from 18 - 29 June 2014.

EIFF and Empire Magazine will present a series of Hero Hangouts; which will see a variety of legendary names from the world of film interviewed live on stage at the Festival. Whether they are big names from in front of or behind the camera these sessions will give EIFF audiences a rare insight into the brains powering today’s movies. Empire readers and film fans not able to attend the Festival in person will be able to watch highlights of the Hero Hangouts at Empire Online.

In addition, for Empire’s Issue 301, the world’s biggest movie magazine has asked its readers to vote for the 301 Greatest Movies of All Time and EIFF has teamed up with Empire to host a very special screening at the Festival. The winning films will be revealed in Empire’s 301st issue which hits the shelves on 29 May 2014 and The Greatest Movie of All Time will be screened at the Festival on Wednesday 25 June in Edinburgh.

Ken Hay, Chief Executive at EIFF, said, “Both EIFF and Empire share a passion for all things film and so we’re delighted to be working in partnership with Empire in developing new ways for the festival to reach audiences across the UK and the World. As the first example of this partnership, Hero Hangout provides a unique opportunity for film fans to meet their cinematic heroes either up close in Edinburgh in June, or online via Empire’s website.”

Mark Dinning, Editor of Empire Magazine, said, “Empire is thrilled to be partnering with EIFF for this series of spectacular events, which will be an essential experience for film fans of all ages. The EIFF is such an exciting festival and we can't wait to work with them on these unique movie moments. To be able to watch on the big screen what the Empire readers will have decided is officially The Greatest Film of All Time will be an absolute treat too."
