With Christmas around the corner, the multi-talented music artist Brocarde is releasing a unique, hard-hitting COVID Christmas song on the 25th November, the first of its kind. This single offers something different to the ‘fluffy, happy and Christmassy’ releases that usually drop during the festive season. This track is somewhat opposite and showcases the harsh reality that we are all facing during these strange COVID times and taps into the intense emotions we are all feeling.

With an impressive 137k following, Brocarde wants to share her lockdown journey with her fans through her music. ‘Waiting For January’ is written by Brocarde, and in her own words she explains "I’ve always found Christmas an inspiring time, the intense celebrations and the underlaying sadness that it holds for many people. It's a time of excess and excessive outpourings and I've always wanted to write a Christmas song that captures both the sadness and hope, a song that's almost contrasting in its point of view, as I feel it's a time for mixed emotions."

Brocarde continues by saying "I started out writing an anthem for those who find Christmas difficult and challenging, but as soon as we went into the second lockdown, I realised that there was a universal topic that was far bigger than my personal feelings. Instead of having a "I hate people, I'm a misfit and I want to be left alone mentality", I found myself longing and hoping for a "normal" Christmas surrounded by friends and family. I was thinking of those who are truly isolated and alone and I starting wondering how a COVID Christmas is going to affect us all."

The verses have a sadness to them and the lyrics are haunting, Brocade captures this with the creepy dysfunctional piano and the choir, which is all her voice singing in various different places with different tones. The chorus' is more uplifting and designed to inspire a little hope, there's almost a light humour to them to counterbalance the sadness in 2020 and the longing for a bit or normality.

The music video was done during lockdown so the creative is different to Brocarde’s usual style and she says "It felt inappropriate at this time to be making an all bells and whistles style music video with extras and flashy sets, so I tried to imagine what an isolated Christmas could look like so I made a lockdown Christmas video. Almost like a party for one, which travels through a range of perspectives from reflectiveness to celebration."

Brocarde also has a fashion brand that oozes power, feminism and tells the story of her past, present and future as an artist. Her previous fashion designs have been worn by A-list celebrities including Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.

Waiting For January’ follows the recent release of the Halloween inspired single ‘Twisted' and the ‘Love Me ‘Till I’m Beautiful’ EP, released in July, which saw Brocarde teaming up with Korn’s legendary drummer Ray Luzier. Clocking over 800,000 streams across platforms, while the video for the lead single reached nearly 1 million YouTube plays to date. The EP also featured the trained opera singer’s influential coronavirus-inspired track, ‘World Upside Down’, which the video was filmed on her phone during the first lockdown.
