Murphy’s husband calls for actor boycott on Happy Feet sequel

23 January 2010

The husband of late actress Brittany Murphy has called on the actors from the forthcoming Happy Feet sequel to quit the film.

Simon Monjack has revealed that Murphy was due to reprise her role as Gloria the penguin but was fired over rumours about her lifestyle - particularly reports that she had been axed from another movie (The Caller) for being difficult.

He said, "There was a great deal of stress in her career. A week before she died... unfortunately Warner Brothers pulled the offer (for Happy Feet) based off rumours, which were untrue.

"So any actress that takes the role is terrible. And I would say to Brad Pitt and Matthew Damon, who are considering doing the movie, to rethink your friendship with Brittany before you do it".

Monjack has also added that producers of The Caller explained "that Brittany in no way was fired from that movie and that it was a mutual decision".
