Never Back Down helmer Jeff Wadlow set to direct the sequel to Kick-Ass

09 May 2012

With the sequel to 2010's runaway hit Kick-Ass officially kicking off shooting in September, many thought that director Matthew Vaughn would return to direct it, but word is that a new director has been found in the form of Never Back Down helmer Jeff Wadlow.

Vaughn will return to the series to write and produce the sequel and is apparently in talks with Universal Pictures to distribute the sequel.

The Hollywood Reporter understand that the sequel will be adapted from both Mark Millar's comic book of the same name, and his Hit-Girl spinoff, with the latter said to serve as the film's first act.

Word is that the principal cast of Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Chloe Moretz are all set to reprise their roles from the hit film, with sources citing that Moretz may run into scheduling conflicts with her Carrie and The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea commitments, its possible that a deal where she appears in all could be struck in a similar fashion to Jennifer Lawrence's Catching Fire and X-Men: First Class sequel deal.
