Newcomer Dacre Montgomery joins Naomi Scott as the Red Ranger in Dean Israelite’s POWER RANGERS

With Lionsgate developing a big screen outing of beloved franchise Power Rangers, it has been announced that the reboot has found its Red Ranger.

The official Instagram account announced newcomer Dacre Montgomery will be suiting up as the leader of the young heroes posting the above photo with the caption "#DacreMontgomery is officially suiting up as the #RedRanger. Get excited for the @PowerRangersMovie, coming in 2017!"

The official Twitter account also shared the news with a caption “Every #PowerRangers squad needs a leader."




Montgomery joins The Martian's Naomi Scott, who will be playing the Pink Ranger in the film that will be a modern update of the classic kids series will inject a whole new generation of teens with mystical powers.

Directed by Project Almanac's Dean Israelite, the synopsis for Power Rangers reads “In order to save the world, these young Power Rangers will have to master their powers in the face of an unspeakable evil.”

Power Rangers will go into production in early 2016, with a January 13 2017.
