Nicolas Cage wants ghostly sequel to The Wicker Man

28 January 2012

With the high octane sequel Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance set to ride into cinemas on February 17, Hollywood icon Nicolas Cage has revealed that he would be interested in reprising his role for a sequel to the remake The Wicker Man.

Cage tells Empire "I would like to hook up with one of the great Japanese filmmakers, like the master that made Ringu, and take The Wicker Man to Japan, except this time he's a ghost."

The Wicker Man saw Cage as an American policeman who flies to an island to find a missing young girl only to get caught up with a neo-pagan group.

Cage also revealed that he turned down two huge franchises adding "There were two movies that asked me to go to Australia or New Zealand for long periods of time. One was Lord of the Rings and one was The Matrix," he shared. "But I was actively involved at that time raising my family and I couldn't really take that time out."

Cage has Simon West's Stolen, Scott Walker's The Frozen Ground and The Croods from filmmakers Kirk De Micco and Chris Sanders in post production.
