Nicole Kidman joins Colin Firth for The Railway Man

03 March 2012

It has emerged that Hollywood icon Nicole Kidman famed for the likes of Eyes Wide Shut, Moulin Rouge! and Australia is set to take on the role of Colin Firth's wife in The Railway Man.

Word is that the Rabbit Hole actress stepped in to the role of Patti after Rachel Weisz was forced to drop out to film due to additional scenes for The Bourne Legacy and Oz: The Great and Powerful being needed.

The Daily Mail report that the Australian actress will play Patricia 'Patti' Wallace who helps her husband try to overcome nightmares caused by his terrible experiences during World War II in a film based on the true story of Eric Lomax, a second lieutenant in the Royal Corps of Signals who was captured by Japanese forces.

Kidman was last seen in Trespass with Nicolas Cage and has The Paperboy with John Cusack ready for release and Chan-wook Park's thriller Stoker in post production.
