No Cyclops return for James Marsden in Bryan Singer’s X-men: Days of Future Past
Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past comes to cinemas next year, James Marsden who starred as Scott Summers aka Cyclops in the original trilogy has confirmed that the character will not return for the superhero ensemble.
It was thought that Marsden could possibly be up for a cameo in the film when a journalist spotted him and Berry on the same flight to Montreal where the eagerly anticipated sequel is being shot, however talking to Vulture, Marsden said that he will definitely not be returning to the franchise, saying "If this next film really works, Bryan has said he wants to fix a few things, so hopefully Cyclops's death is one of them.
We'll see. I always liked Cyclops, but they have a lot of characters that they have to parcel out, spend time with each one, make sure everyone feels like they've been given their due, introduce them appropriately, but you could do a spinoff of every one of those characters and give them so much depth to the storyline."
X-Men: Days of Future Past will debut on July 18 2014 and features Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Ellen Page, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, Lucas Till, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Booboo Stewart, Fan Bingbing, Adan Canto and Evan Peters.
