Omniplex Cinema Group Announces Expansion Into Great Britain With The Acquisition Of 5 Existing Empire Cinema Locations

Ireland’s largest cinema company acquires five existing Empire Cinema locations

The total investment will exceed £22 million and secure 150 existing jobs

 The rebranded Omniplex Cinemas will open in Birmingham, Ipswich, Sutton, Clydebank, and High Wycombe in December 2023, with additional locations to be confirmed in 2024

Today, Omniplex Cinema Group, Ireland’s largest cinema company, announces its expansion into Great Britain by acquiring five existing Empire Cinema locations. 

This expansion will see Birmingham, Ipswich, Sutton, Clydebank, and High Wycombe join the Omniplex Cinema Group, with each location set to open in early December 2023 and more to be announced in 2024. 

Omniplex Cinema Group is making a total investment of £22.5 million over eighteen months to acquire and renovate these existing locations. 

With the cinema company already operating 38 separate cinema locations on the island of Ireland, it has signalled its commitment to establishing a strong presence in the British cinema market, with this investment set to secure 150 existing jobs.

The individual site openings are planned on the following dates; Birmingham on 6 December, Ipswich and Sutton on 8 December, Clydebank and High Wycombe on 10 December 2023.
