Oscar winning Sought After Actress Alicia Vikander nabs coveted role of Lara Croft in Roar Uthaug’s Tomb Raider
Whilst we reported that Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens heroine Daisy Ridley was in contention for the iconic role of Lara Croft in the forthcoming reimagining of Tomb Raider, it has been reported that Alicia Vikander has landed the coveted role.
Variety report that the sought after The Danish Girl Actress will star as the adventurer in Norwegian Director Roar Uthaug’s heavily-anticipated reimagining for MGM, Warner Bros and GK Films.
Whilst other Actresses had met for the role, sources indicate that Vikander had always been the first choice, and cite a script rewrite as the reason for the delay to announce her casting.
Tomb Raider previously had two film versions starring Angelina Jolie with 2001’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and 2003 sequel Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.
The Oscar winning Actress returns to Cinemas with Paul Greengrass’s Jason Bourne alongside Matt Damon on July 28, she also has Justin Chadwick’s Tulip Fever awaiting release and The Light Between Oceans alongside Michael Fassbender set for release in January and is currently filming Submergence with filmmaker Wim Wenders.
