OSCARS THIS SUNDAY: Brighton based Bookie Star Sports Hoping For Biggest Ever Shock Result at the 91st Academy Awards

23 February 2019

It's the Oscars this weekend and Brighton based bookies, Star Sports, will be watching with fingers crossed hoping for the biggest upset in Oscar history after taking a £180k bet on 'Shallow' (from A Star Is Born) being named the Best Original Song on Sunday night.

The odds-on 'good thing' was backed at 1-33 with Star and is now 1-100. The customer stands to win £5.5k.

"We've already taken a record breaking amount on this years awards, but this is by far the biggest bet taken on the Oscars and one that we really can't see getting turned over unfortunately. The good news is though we only lose £5k! ", said Star spokesman, Gary Burton.

If the selection is beaten it will be the biggest shock and the shortest priced loser in Oscars history.

Roma is the odds-on 4-11 favourite to lift Best Picture, while Rami Malek and Glenn Close are 1-9 and 1-10 respectively to be named Best Actor and Actress.
