Owen Wilson and Pierce Bronsan’s action thriller the Coup gets a new title and a date change
The film, originally titled The Coup, will now be called No Escape. It will also be opening on September 2 rather than March 6.
Sources have told The Hollywood reporter that the reason for the name change was due to the poor testing of the title The Coup with audiences unfamiliar with the meaning of “coup.”
The film follows an American businessman (Wilson) as he and his family moves to a new home in Southeast Asia. Suddenly finding themselves in the middle of a violent political uprising, or a Coup. As rebels descend upon the city and mercilessly ravage it, the family must escape.
Wilson will star alongside Pierce Brosnan and Lake Bell.
John Eric Dowdle directed the movie and co-wrote it with his brother, Drew Dowdle. Drew Dowdle will also be producing along with Michael Litvak and David Lancaster.
NO ESCAPE WILL HIT CINEMAS ON SEPTEMBER 2 2015
