Pan’s Garrett Hudlund says third entry in TRON franchise isn’t “totally dead” and could still happen

25 September 2015

Back in May it was revealed that Disney had pulled the plug on TRON 3, but franchise lead Garrett Hedlund has said that film isn't "totally dead”.

Hedlund starred as Sam Flynn in Tron: Legacy, said that if a compelling story is developed, the sequel could still take place telling "I haven't been told it's totally dead.

Ever since we did Legacy, we knew that to have another story follow it up, it had to be concrete and exciting.

Disney needed to have the right story to go forward. I think it was going to introduce some things that were as exciting as Legacy was and then some, though."

TRON 3 was preparing to shoot in Vancouver before Disney decided not to go ahead with it. In 2010, TRON: Legacy, brought roughly $400 million worldwide and spawned an animated series known as TRON: Uprising which aired from 2012 to 2013 on Disney XD.

Hedlund is currently promoting his forthcoming film Pan, where he stars as Hook, the fantasy adventure hits Cinemas on October 16.
