Phil Lord and Chris Miller discuss The LEGO

08 January 2015

Following the mammoth success of The LEGO® Movie, a sequel was green lit and now some new details have emerged from the creative forces Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

Talking to Empire, Miller explained "We were really interested in what happens to that boy who's in the meta story in the first movie when he's four years older, when he's an adolescent, how does that change his point of view?

And it's nice to have the characters start in a different place from the first movie. Emmet, for example, was in an existential crisis of having seen another dimension and was questioning the whole point of his existence."

Lord added that he is pleased to have other filmmakers tackle the material and take it in directions that they would not have thought of, and statied "I think it would get boring if we directed them all, quite honestly."

The pair are writing the script for The LEGO® Movie sequel and are also producing The Lego Batman Movie, with Chris McKay directing and Seth Grahame-Smith writing.
