Pitch Perfect’s Elizabeth Banks cast as fan favourite villain Rita Repulsa in Dean Israelite’s reimagining of Saban’s POWER RANGERS
Sought after fan favourite Actress Elizabeth Banks has reported been cast as Rita Repulsa in Lionsgate’s reimagining of Saban’s Power Rangers!
The Hollywood Reporter report that the Actress who is known for her role of Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games franchise has nabbed the villainous role Rita Repulsa in Power Rangers, the big screen adaptation of of the long running fan favourite kids television show that first appeared on screens in the early 90’s.
Project Almanac Director Dean Israelite will direct the film written by X-Men: First Class scribes Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz that centres on a group of teens who are infused with powers, forming a colourful team who must stop the world from being conquered.
Banks’ Rita Repulsa will do battle with a team of relative newcomers RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Dacre Montgomery and Terra Nova alumni Naomi Scott as Kimberly Hart aka The Pink Ranger.
Produced by Saban Films’ Haim Saban and Brian Casentini alongside Allison Shearmur, Power Rangers is due to hit Cinemas early next year.
Banks currently has Sloane U'Ren’s Rita Hayworth biopic Rita Hayworth with a Hand Grenade in pre-production, she is also set to Direct the third entry in the Pitch Perfect franchise where she will also reprise her role of Gail.
