Powerful & Ambitious New Podcast Series ANTHEMS Launches March 1st As Part Of Growing Slate For Broccoli Content

20 February 2020

Broccoli takes your international women’s day and raises you an international women’s month with Anthems – launching March 1

Anthems is a bold collection of highly-produced 31 original manifestos, speeches, stories, poems and rallying cries written and voiced by exceptional women across Britain.

Inspired by International Women’s Day, Anthems will be released each day during the month of March. Each five-minute episode is a beautiful and immersive audio piece that the listener can return to and feel uplifted, inspired and ultimately not alone.

Featuring the voices of Booker-prize winning author Bernadine Everisto, award-winning journalist Poorna Bell, baker and writer Ruby Tandoh, Poet and author Laura Dockrill, Capital1 Radio Presenter Leah Davis, author Zing Tseng, actor and director Kelechi Okafor, the Women of The Receipts Podcast (Tolly T, Audrey Indome, Milena Sanchez), and many more.

Anthems was created, executive produced and sound designed by Hana Walker-Brown, produced by Jaja Muhammed and assistant produced by Bea Duncan. It was commissioned by Renay Richardson for Broccoli Content.

Hana Walker-Brown, Executive Producer, says “The women involved in Anthems are truly expectational and their work is moving, hilarious, raw, honest, powerful, playful – everything and anything we could have hoped for.  So many women have shared similar experiences but never shared them, but it’s so important to put our thoughts down and speak out into the world and I hope we will introduce podcast audiences to their new favourite anthems.”

Renay RichardsonBroccoli Content Founder, says “We're really proud for Anthems to join our growing florets of content at Broccoli. It's an honour to provide a platform for these dynamic women and give voice to their raw and inspiring stories. I can't wait for you to hear these fresh and honest anthems each morning, and I hope they resonate with listeners as much as they have with us."

Anthems joins Broccoli’s flagship series Your Broccoli Weekly and Money 101 as part of their growing slate of fresh content featuring diverse voices taking on current affairs and culture

Your Broccoli Weekly, is the antidote to an out-of-control information cycle. Money 101 lifts the lid on all things money for BBC Sounds and follows broadcaster and producer Bea Duncan’s journey to figure out how to manager her finances. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll never feel alone with your money problems again.

Sony Music Entertainment entered into the joint venture with the London-based audio production company in 2019. It marked SME’s first major investment outside the US as part of a drive to expand opportunities for unique storytelling around the world, as well as increase their support for the global podcast community.
