Reese Witherspoon set to bring Barbie and Ruth: The Story of the World’s Most Famous Doll to the big screen

Sought after acclaimed Actress Reese Witherspoon has reportedly signed on to bring the story of Barbie to the big screen.
The Tracking Board report that Witherspoon, who was last seen in Hot Pursuit will Produce alongside her producing partner Bruna Papandrea a film based on Robin Gerber's book Barbie and Ruth: The Story of the World's Most Famous Doll and the Woman Who Created Her which focuses on the life of the toy's creator Ruth Handler.
Barbie and Ruth: The Story of the World's Most Famous Doll and the Woman Who Created Her will follow the incredible successes of the Mattel co-founder and her husband Elliot – who conquered the toy industry – as well, of course, as the horrible tragedies that beset their family.
Witherspoon is not the only person working on a Barbie film, Sony are working on a live-action Barbie film from a script that has been rewritten by Juno's Diablo Cody.
Witherspoon is working on Downsizing and TV’s Big Little Lies and is currently filming Garth Jennings’ Sing where she is lending her voice alongside Matthew McConaughey, she also has Wish List and Disney’s Tink in development.
