Remembering Cory Monteith – R.I.P May 1982 – July 2013
Following the tragic loss of Cory Monteith at the young age of 31 this weekend, The Fan Carpet thought we would do a feature remembering the dearly departed actor and musician.
Best known for his role of quarterback and singing sensation Finn Hudson in the television phenomenon Glee, Monteith also featured in minor roles in television favourites, such as Smallville, Supernatural and Stargate, and had a few smaller roles in films including Final Destination 3, White Noise: The Light and Monte Carlo.
In Monteith's final film All The Wrong Reasons Cory starred as James Ascher, a store manager whos wife, played by Karine Vanasse, suffers from Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, also known as PTSD.
The ensemble movie centres around four everyday people: Cory's store manager character, a security guard, a firefighter and a clerk, as they deal with life after a trauma.
All The Wrong Reasons will be making its debut at the film festivals when they kick off in autumn.
It is one of two movies that Cory was working on when he passed away in his Vancouver hotel room over the weekend.
Cory also portrays a drug addicted street hustler in McCanick, where director Josh Waller said the experience helped the actor come to terms with his own battle with substance and alcohol abuse.
'He looked at it as an artistic experience but also something of a cathartic experience,' Josh said. When Cory saw the final cut, the actor was 'moved, emotionally,' Josh told Us Weekly.
It's not clear when or how the film will be released as it doesn't yet have a distributor, according to the LA Times.
The Fan Carpet would like to express our condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time...
When Glee begins Finn is the starting quarterback of McKinley High School's fledgling football team. New Directions director Will Schuester hears him sing in the shower and begins an effort to recruit him to be part of the choir. Finn is talented and loves music but faces the challenge of balancing two extra-curricular activities, as well as overcoming the social perception of glee club.
Finn does not possess a great intellect and is well aware of his shortcomings in that area. The "dumb jock" label is one he views as a burden. But what he lacks in brains he makes up for in sincerity.
Finn is passionate and competitive, and these traits translates from the football field to the stage. In those ways he is very similar to Rachel, which is why it comes as no surprise when the two appear to have an instant romantic connection.
Three graduates fulfill their dreams of vacationing in Paris. They accidentally find themselves in a lavish world, where they live like royalty and experience romance. But at the end of their journey, they discover the true magic of friendship.
Monteith plays Owen Andrews, the love interest to Katie Cassidy's Emma Danielle Perkins.
After proposing to Emma he follows her to Monte Carlo in the hopes of marrying her, the film ends with their reconciliation and the pair moving into their own home in Texas.
