Ricky Gervais asked back to host the Golden Globes

01 February 2011

He's caused abit of a stir two years on the trot at the Golden Globes with his controversial antics, but it appears that Ricky Gervais has been asked back as host for next year.

Writing in Heat magazine, the comedian said that the ceremony's high ratings last month led the Hollywood Foreign Press Association have invited him back as host "The ratings went up again, and the organisers asked me to consider a third year. [But] I don't think I should, I don't know what I could do better. I certainly couldn't get more press for them, that's for sure. The response was staggering. It was discussed on every news channel and chatshow for weeks."

Gervais is adamant that he did nothing wrong adding: "The weird thing is, the question is always, 'Did Ricky go too far?' And the answer is always, 'No'. I have yet to find anyone who was actually offended by it."

Gervais is currently filming with Kermit and friends in the James Bobin directed The Muppets. It doesn't get a UK release until February 17 next year but has attracted the attention of A-listers a plenty including Amy Adams, Jason Segel (who also wrote it) and John Krasinski. Emily Blunt is still rumoured to be in the new film along with The Hangover funnyman Ed Helms.
