Rooney Mara in line to replace Carey Mulligan for Spike Jonze

Word via Variety is that The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo's Rooney Mara is in line to replace Carey Mulligan in the upcoming romance from filmmaker Spike Jonze.

According to the report Mara is close to replacing the Never Let Me Go actress who had to pull out of the film due to scheduling conflicts.

Written by Jonze, the film currently has no title, but will reportedly star Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams and Samantha Morton.

Mara is currently filming Steven Soderbergh's thriller The Bitter Pill with Jude Law while Mulligan's Baz Luhrmann directed The Great Gatsby will arrive in cinemas on December 26.
