16 June 2011

He's best known for his role of Maximus in 2000's mega hit Gladiator and has gone on to star in films including A Beautiful Mind, State of Play, Robin Hood and more recently The Next Three Days and now it seems that Russell Crowe is being wooed to take the role of Jor-El in Zack Snyder's upcoming Man of Steel reboot.

On the big screen Jor-El the biological father of Superman aka Kal-El aka Clark Kent was portrayed by the legendary Marlon Brado in the original richard Donner film and more recently voiced by Terance Stamp on the long running CW series Smallville.

Little is known about how much screen time Crowe (should he sign) will get but Snyder is set to start shooting next month for a 2012 release with a cast that includes Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon and British born Henry Cavill as the titular hero.

Crowe however will next be seen in the RZA directed The Man with the Iron Fists alongside The Hangover: Part II babe Jamie Chung and Charlie's Angels alum Lucy Liu that is set in feudal China, a blacksmith who makes weapons for a small village is put in the position where he must defend himself and his fellow villagers.
