Ryan Reynolds says Deadpool script is fantastic

01 March 2012

Hollywood icon Ryan Reynolds known for the likes of television favourite Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place, Buried, The Change-Up and Green Lantern has said that the announced Deadpool solo film will have no connection to X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The R.I.P.D actor tells IGN the new film will be tonally different to its predecessor where his character was introduced and says "The script is, I think, fantastic. It's been developed further in the last three months or so, the film has to be rated R and has to be done a certain way and it has to be through all these things, and I'm sure it can be a little bit worrisome for the guy who's cutting the cheques for it. If it's going to be done, it has to be done right."

While it seems pretty much a sure thing that he'll reprise the role of the wise-cracking mercenary, Reynolds isn't sure if he'll be reprising Green Lantern in a sequel which has yet to be green lit adding "I have no idea. You know, I have no idea. Those movies have huge scale budgets and those sorts of things. Personally, working in the budget world of that kind of level is not as much fun, because there's so much investment in the outcome."

Reynolds can currently be seen in the Daniel Espinosa directed Safe House with Denzel Washington and returns to cinemas as the voice of Guy in the March 22 release of The Croods with Nicolas Cage. The eagerly awaited Deadpool film has a tentative release for 2014 directed by Tim Miller.
