Salma Hayek considers herself lucky to be working in her forties
Well ladies, we may have won the sex war, but in Hollywood the age war rages on.
Salma Hayek Pinault (as she is now named since she married French businessman Francois-Henri Pinault) claims in a recent interview with Sky News that she feels lucky to still be working in Hollywood at the ripe old age of 43. To be fair, it might have something to do with the fact Salma looks about 33 and is undeniably gorgeous.
After years of trying to break into Hollywood the actress says, ironically, now that she is older the roles are flooding in:
“I have been really, really lucky, it was really hard at the beginning because of the accent to find roles for me. Now after 20 years they're beginning to get used to me, so now I am beginning to work - now I don't want to work so much because I have a family."
Hayek, who has a three-year-old daughter with her husband, has also found time for directing, as well as producing the massively successful show Ugly Betty. All of this success she accredits to not having found everything easy on her way up, she says:
“I do have to work really hard, but I am in a really good place. A lot of people work really hard and don't get to see results. Maybe I would never have been a producer and director if things had just gone my way easily."
As well as all the hard work, Salma gets to have a bit of fun as well, especially when working in comedy alongside comedy legends such as Adam Sandler. In this years Grown Ups Salma plays Sandler’s fashion designer wife as the couple reunite with some of Sandler’s childhood friends and their families. Starring Chris Rock, Kevin James and Rob Schneider, the gang discover that being a Grown Up doesn’t mean you don’t get to have any fun. Which Salma certainly did:
“It was like a paid vacation in a beach on the east coast with really fun people who happened to have children the same age as mine. It was so much fun, I made a lot of good friends."
See Salma, life can still be a beach at 43!
Grown Ups it out in UK Cinemas now.
