Sam Worthington set to Drift back home

25 August 2010

I have a feeling that Sam Worthington is going to be one of those stars, who despite being a newcomer to the blockbuster leading man genre, is going to be everywhere over the next few years.

Thanks to success in the massive blockbuster of the decade that was Avatar, followed by Clash Of The Titans, Worthington's been rumored to star in more films than Zac Effron and Robert Pattinson combined.

A leading role that he will definitely be taking up however is in the new surfing film Drift. The film will chart the evolution of surfing from it's roots to the massive world wide sport that is has become. Worthington told the West Australian newspaper that he is returning to to the area to shoot the film, he says:

"I'm a WA boy at heart and to go back there and put something back into my home town is something I am really looking forward to," says Worthington. "There's something pure and true about surfing, and there is something pure and true about this script."

Worthington will be filming Drift early next year which will have Morgan O'Neill and Ben Nott sharing the directing duties.

As we haven't seen a really good surfing film in quite a while, I'm sure Drift will be eagerly anticipated by Sam Worthington and surfing fans alike.
