Saoirse Ronan close to locking in The Hobbit?

28 January 2011

After yesterdays news that Peter Jackson is unwell and it will delay the shoot of The Hobbit, there looks to be good news on the horizon. Rising star Saoirse Ronan who shot to fame with The Lovely Bones could be set to be a lock for the prequels.

Ros Hubbard who is a member of the casting team said whilst talking to The Irish Film & Television Network “Jimmy (Nesbitt) is thrilled to bits, his whole family have gone out, it is just wonderful. And working with Peter Jackson is like working with a family. So they’ll have a great time. Saoirse’s family will go too, everyone is very close and very loving on those sorts of jobs. It’s not like typical studio movies at all.”

However, Ronan has publically said that she hasn't been offeered anything in the film, so while this is good news, it remains a rumour for now.
