Lionsgate presents A ROYAL NIGHT OUT  IN CINEMAS ON MAY 15

SPECIAL VE DAY PREVIEWS ON 8th MAY 2015

On Wednesday 8th April, Sarah Gadon star of A ROYAL NIGHT OUT visited the Chelsea Pensioners at the Royal Hospital to hear first-hand their experiences of VE Day in 1945 ahead of the film’s release on 15th May.

On her visit Sarah Gadon who plays Princess Elizabeth in the film said, “It was a happy and emotional morning at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. Hearing Dorothy recount vivid stories from WWII reminded me of my own grandparents who served in the war and the importance of remembering their efforts and sacrifices.”

On the film, Chelsea Pensioner Dorothy Hughes, who was in the Mall on VE night, said: “I absolutely loved A ROYAL NIGHT OUT . Watching the film, I honestly felt as if I was back there in the crowd. The costumes were very accurate, everything from the hair styles down to the shoes. It’s so true to life, I couldn’t believe it. They captured the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the evening exactly.”

VE Day, 1945. Across Europe, people are celebrating the end of the war. London overflows with celebration and excess. Two teenage princesses are allowed out that night to join the party. For the first time they are able to mingle with the teeming crowds, incognito.

Our two teenagers are Margaret and the future Queen of England, Elizabeth. Home is Buckingham Palace.

Inspired by true events, A Royal Night Out is a heart-warming and riotous tale of the Queen witnessing the energy and spirit on this unique night.

With 2015 marking the 70th Anniversary of VE Day, join in the celebrations when A Royal Night Out is released in UK cinemas on May 15.
