Scarlett Johansson endorses New York City mayoral candidate Scott Stringer

02 September 2011

Screen siren Scarlett Johansson who is currently shooting her role of Black Widow in Joss Whedon's superhero team-up The Avengers has endorsed New York City mayoral candidate Scott Stringer.

The gorgeous Lost in Translation actress will not only record a string of adverts for the campaign but is scheduled to host two fundraising galas for the Democratic politician's campaign at the Plaza Hotel in October.

Speaking to Page Six, Johansson who decided to endorse Stringer's campaign because he values the cultural diversity of New York City said "When Scott is elected mayor, we can expect a representative who is focused on making New York a cleaner, greener city, providing affordable housing and preserving the integrity of our varied communities."

It's somewhat of a family affair as Johansson's brother Hunter is also working for Stringer's campaign.

Johansson will next be seen in Cameron Crowe's We Bought a Zoo with Matt Damon when it comes to UK cinemas on December 23.
