Sigourney Weaver, Summer Glau and Linda Hamilton head dream team for all-female version of The Expendables
Why should the guys have all the fun? After the success of The Expendables franchise it looks like there could be an all-female version in the works with action heroines Linda Hamilton, Cynthia Rothrock, Sigourney Weaver, Carrie Ann Moss, Michelle Rodriguez, Gina Carano and Summer Glau put forward as a potential wish list.
Variety report that Adi Shankar and his 1984 Private Defence Contractors production company have tapped Black List writer Dutch Southern to pen the script for the proposed project.
Shankar and his company previously backed films such as The Grey and Machine Gun Preacher while Southern previously wrote the script for semi-retired hitman tale Hoof Harrington's Greatest Hits.
The Expendables 2 is currently sitting at the top of the US box office and features action heroes Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Chuck Norris.
As for the dream team of Hamilton will next be seen in Nicholas Brandt and Lisa Hamil's thriller Right Next Door, Rothrock has Rogue Space: The Adventures of Saber Raine and Double Fury in pre production, Weaver has Vamps ready for release, Moss will next be seen in Silent Hill: Revelation 3D which arrives in cinemas on October 31, Rodriguez is filming the sixth entry in The Fast and the Furious franchise with Carano and Glau has Knights of Badassdom in post production.
